How would you describe what inspires you to do what you do?
I am inspired by everyday life. By people I meet, and things I see, both good and bad. I think true artist are always extensions of their life and environment.
What elements do you look for in a song that makes it especially satisfying for you to perform?
I look for peaks and valleys in a song. I like for a song to be an emotional journey with highs and lows. A reflection of life.
At what point in your life did you make the decision to become a professional musician and actually record your own albums?
Music is all I've ever done. I started playing professionally in middle school. For me, there was an instant connection the first time I played a saxophone. From that moment it was all about music, and all I wanted to do was record. Still after all these years in the business, one of my favorite things still is to see my name on the back of records.
What are you most proud of at this point in your life and career?
Being a husband and a father. As far as career, I'm proud to be able take care of the people I love the most, (family), while doing the thing I love the most. Music.
When the times arise for you give back for the success and abundance you enjoy, what kinds of opportunities do you look for?
I look for any opportunity to share knowledge with up and coming musicians and artist. Learning to play is one thing, but learning to navigate this business is an entirely different animal most young people are not prepared for.
What are some of the most important goals you have for yourself in the next five to ten years?
I would like to be considered one of the A list Film & TV Composer in the business
