ALBUM DOWNLOAD FAQ's:

Welcome to the wonderful world of Digital Downloads. We are pleased to bring you fantastic music from independent Smooth Jazz artists at reasonable prices. Enjoy the benefits of the music directly after you place your order. There are no mailing fees or wait times. We even give you a 48 hour window to download your album from the time of purchase.

What is a Digital Download?
An Album download is NOT a physical CD. Nothing will be mailed to you. A Digital Download is a collection of mp3 song files representing each track from the CD, that you download from our store into your computer through your internet connection. Our downloads are not digitally watermarked so they can be used however you please on your end (put them into your mp3 player, burn to CD, etc.).

Can I order single tracks only?
No, it is cost prohibitive for us to set up a singles download store - we recommend iTunes and Amazon for that service. We offer full album downloads.

At what bitrate is Smoothjazz.com selling their Digital Downloads?
We just recently upgraded from 128k to 192k. Now the sound quality is better than ever. This exceeds the bitrate and sound quality of iTunes or Amazon downloads.

What does my computer need in order for me to purchase and download an album?
You need a computer with a web browser (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.) and current versions of the following: - WinZip if you are a PC user Winzip.comOlder version may make your download appear to be missing tracks.

StuffIT if you are a Mac user Stuffit.com

• WindowsXP users using the built-in ZIP utility will probably need WinZip as well, as the Windows ZIP utility sometimes doesn’t quite get it right.

• MP3 player of which there are many. We recommend iTunes (PC and MAC users) and WinAmp (PC users), but they are by no means a requirement.

• It would be helpful if you have a reasonably fast connection such as Broadband, DSL or Satellite, as the download is large, but it's not impossible for modem users to download albums.

• The program GetRight is incredibly helpful for downloading large files over a dial-up connection, and would save a modem user much frustration.

• As for hardware, if your computer was made in the last 5 years, you're good to go. If it's older than that (pre-Pentium), it's probably time to consider using it for a boat anchor.

How do I get started?
Click here to vsit our Download Store. Click on the thumbnail album covers to see the details and ordering info on each album. Most selections have a review of the album and all have song samples for you to listen to prior to choosing your album. Once you’ve decided that you want to purchase the album, click the Buy Now button and follow prompts to check out.

How do I receive my download?
Upon confirmation of your purchase, you will receive an email (at the email address you provided) containing a unique link back to that album's detail page in our store. Depending on your email program, you can either click on that link to be automatically tranported back to our store but if that does not work, you can select the link and copy and paste it into your web browser's url address field and hit ENTER on your keyboard.

Once you arrive back at our store, look for the Download GO button at the bottom of the detail section. Click that button and your download will begin. Make sure you are aware of your computer's setting regarding storage of downloaded files, so you can find the files after they are done downloaing.

How much time do I have to download my album?
You have 48 hours to download your album before the file is erased from our server.

Why don't you offer singles ?
At this time we are only offering full albums because Apple offers singles for a great price and we don’t think we need to reinvent the wheel. As the company grows, we will consider a similar option.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

My album downloaded but I am unable to listen to the songs, now what?
If you know the album downloaded successfully and you can view the songs on your computer, yet you are still unable to listen, it may be that the version of software you are using to unzip the files is in need of upgrading.

MAC USERS: Make sure that you have the most current version of “Stuffit”. Please visit Stuffit.com to get a free upgrade.

PC USERS: Make sure you have the most current version of “Winzip”. Please visit to get a free upgrade.

I tried upgrading my software and I still can’t listen to my music.
Make sure your speakers are plugged in. We know this sounds overly simple, but sometimes that’s all it is.
