In the collaborative spirit of Fourplay, BWB and Shanachie Entertainment all-star, contemporary jazz groups like The Sax Pack and Jazz Funk Soul, veteran genre superstars, bassist Brian Bromberg, guitarist Paul Brown and saxophonist Michael Paulo have a blast joining forces on SERIOUSLY, the funky and infectious, stylistically freewheeling, slickly cool yet improvisational fun debut as BPM. The group name is as much about their first initials as “Beats Per Minute,” a nod to their goal to swing and bring all kinds of grooving energy to the mix. Formed after a trio gig in Punta Mita, Mexico, BPM rolls like old pals having a wide-ranging conversation full of festive romps, Latin coolness, barn-burning jazz/soul and a little mystical moodiness on a Tom Schuman penned, Weather Report/Grateful Dead inspired gem.
