How did this new album and overall concept for it come about, and what are your ultimate goals with it?

I have been playing music for more than 30 years, and I have been lucky to meet and collaborate with a long list of artists in my life, including incredible musicians like Bob Mintzer, Tom Harrel, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Richard Galliano and more. The album came about as I realized that it was finally time to tell something about me; through my music.

The concept of the album is in the title. Bein' Green for me is my philosophy of life, the way to live in perfect harmony with nature, people, animals and circumstances of life. I like to observe all that is around me, and transform my feelings into music. This moment by moment transformation is the essence of who I am, exactly how I always wish to live. Here on my island, Sardinia is a paradise between the sky and sea, with the people and things which I love. Each song of my album represents a moment of my life, a circumstance or an event which has guided my life. So, I can simply say, that this debut project is an autobiographical album.

I think I found my way now. This is what I feel to do now, and just as I finished recording Bein' Green, I suddenly felt the desire to record another album.

How would you describe what inspires you to do what you do?

I live in Sardinia, a nice island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. This is where I was born, grew up and where I want to live for the rest of my life. I live near the sea where Sardinia is kissed by the sun most of the year. The island and its inhabitants boast an unparalleled life style, which results in a massive presence of ultra-centenarians. This lifestyle, together with untouched nature and breath-taking surroundings, make Sardinia my irreducible source of inspiration.

Outside of your musical career, what else in your life gets you excited and fulfilled?

I share my life between music and tourism. Together with my wife Natalia, we own an Inbound Tour Operator in Sardinia. One of my favorite things to do is welcome people to my homeland, and show them the richness, beauty, unique culture, traditions and different cuisines, as well as the strong heritage of our past. So, I can undoubtedly say  that traveling is part of me, and I make sure to blend them every moment. Also, I am crazy for horse riding and sailing. All of this keeps me energetic and fulfilled.

What would be the most important piece of advice youíd impart to a young musician just starting out in the jazz/smooth jazz arena?

A sentence which I endlessly repeat to my students is, "Donít try to be better than someone else, but try to take out the best from You! So, nobody can be better than You, because You will be yourself."

Who are the artists who have collaborated with You in Bein 'Green Bean.

In this debut album, I am honored to team up with some of my favorite jazz, smooth jazz and internationally renowned artists. A few of the guest musicians on the album, I have simply worked with in the past, such as Bob Mintzer, Bill Sharpe and Jill Saward. The other terrific guests in my album whom I adore deeply, and collaborated with for the first time, are Najee, Bill McGee and Tim Collins. An excellent band of well selected musicians made the rest.

It is really an international release, since the artists playing with me on the album are from different countries, such as Italy, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom, U.S.A. and Canada.

How would you finish this sentence? ďI donít like to go a day without drive a flying car?

I look forward to the day when technology advances enough that we all have "flying cars" so that none of us will have to go a day without taking a peaceful "drive" in the blue sky above our beautiful island paradise. It will be a dream come true when I can drive such a car and we all share and enjoy the huge sky!
