A mainstay of NYC’s jazz scene for many years, Italian born composer and electric guitarist Frank Piombo follows his recent induction into the Indie Music Hall of Fame with FAMILY CONCEPT, a spirited, blues and soul inflected EP paying homage to his own large brood and celebrating “everything wonderful that you share with those whom you call family.” While his crisp, fluid and melodic string style and warm, breezy blend with piano, sax and flute fit snugly into the Smooth Jazz vibe, Piombo also dances around the edges of classic jazz fusion and straight ahead influences.
